新的反垃圾邮件法律日前在新西兰正式生效。
通讯部长David Cunliffe称，在经过6个月的过渡期后，立法即将被实施，这将使得各机构能够井然有序的收到他们的电子邮件和数据库系统。
他说，单凭法令不能解决垃圾邮件的问题，而厉行代理商目前能够使垃圾邮件发送者的违法行为得到制止。
新西兰还成立了一个新的政府机构，用于举报受理和调查违反当地政策的垃圾邮件发送者。这个新的机构也将与相关的国际代理合作。
法案就垃圾邮件发送者的违法行为指定了处罚条例，由正式警告到罚款，针对组织罚金最高为35万美金，对个人处罚约14万美金。

New anti-spam legislation has come into effect in New Zealand.
The Communications Minister, David Cunliffe, says the legislation is coming to force after a six-month transition period to allow organisations to get their email practices and database systems in order.
He says the Act alone won't solve the issue of spam, but enforcement agencies are now in a position to bring spammers to task for their illegitimate activities.
A new government unit has been established to investigate complaints and act against locally-based spammers.
It'll also work with relevant international agencies.
Penalties range from formal warnings to fines of up to 350-thousand US dollars for an organisation and around 140-thousand dollars for an individual.
